Future Relic is a series of films by artist Daniel Arsham. In the not so distant future, the Earth’s climate has become dangerously unstable. Tides rise and fall unpredictably, causing catastrophic storm systems that devastate the world’s great cities. In a last ditch attempt to save the world from imminent destruction, a team of scientists generate a plan to deconstruct the moon, excavating large sections from its surface in order to alter its general mass and lessen its gravitational pull on the tides. The experiment works, the Earth is temporarily saved, but adverse effects grow over time and render the world increasingly inhospitable to humans.

Design and Art Direction for these films included the creation of an aesthetic that captured a future expression of technology and simultaneously harkened back to a mid-century, minimalist utility. Work included the creation of all UI elements, a 10 foot digital dashboard display, print and newspaper collateral as well as the films title sequence and poster. Future Relic 1-4 was a featured premier at Tribeca Film Festival 2015 and appeared in part at Art Basel Miami 2014.
